As you know, Wednesday night we played with Mustard Plug at the Reverb
(Toronto). The show was great, the crowd was very responsive and they went
crazy for our friends Mustard Plug... Those guys are SO nice, unfortunately
Mustard Plug Dave's wife was hospitalized so they had to cancel their
remaining shows (including the one in Montreal Saturday night!)... I don't
have an update on that yet. Oh, and in case you were there and wondering,
the first band that played was Dead Letter Department. (Thanks to my cousins
for coming out to see me!) Thanks to all who came out and supported! Good to
finally meet you Rachelle...
We then played with the English Beat Thursday and Friday night at the
Legendary Horseshoe Tavern - also in Toronto! We LOVE this place... What a
great place for a show (actually, it won the "Best of" for live venue in
Toronto)... Anyway, that's besides the point isn't it!!!! We had the honour of
opening for the English Beat on two nights. Thursday was more laid back I
found. The vibe was mellower. Johnny Favourite came out specially to see us!
Friday the energy of the show, the crowd and the band went up a notch! They just cranked
out hit after hit. Congrats to whomever managed to get tickets or get in!!!
And thanks for signing up newbies... Thanks to Sandy and Paddy for doing merch. Lesley, enjoy the vinyl. Special hello to the birthday boy Spud, love
the bi-hawk! And Newfie John for yammering away with me like that!
We gave everything each night and got very good feedback from all
4 shows we did! Then again, I can't remember the last time I didn't give it all I had,
dancing my head off - literally - going nuts and having too much fun!
Friday night, Mr. English Beat himself, Dave Wakeling called us his
favourite band before they started their set... he'd been watching us from the wings. They gave
me a shirt after the show and each signed it. I thought that was really nice! He also said "You guys
worked really hard tonight", and I was thinking "Not just tonight." Bruno
(who also conceived and directed the cool video for "Bordel") played bass
for us on Wed. and Thurs., then on Friday, Jordan came back to us for the
two other shows. He was pretty out of it after the show - looking a little
"green around the gills" as they used to say - and seems to remember hugging
Dave Wakeling at some point!
Guelph (March 10th) was AB FAB!!! The Trasheteria always gives us a great welcome... Jay,
the promoter takes good care of us and we get a meal at the Albion Hotel (if
you're ever in Guelph, you must eat there - the food is SO good... tell them
the Kingpins say hi!) Don't expect a "swank" place, just good taste!
Sometimes I wonder if we do shows in Guelph because of the great audience or
the wonderful food (but you all know the real answer to that don't you! And
some of you who are getting this e-mail are a big part of it!) Thanks to the
bands: Clubber Lang, Bayside and The Next
Best Thing for playing with us! Hope
no one got cavities from the Star Wars bubble gum I gave you! Thanks for the
hugs - and praise Melissa. Hi to our Boum Boum girls Laura and Evelyn and who could forget the
Frantic Ska crew! A pleasure...
I can't believe how tired I am, I drove the last tank-and-a-half home - we
pulled in around noon and I can't sleep yet, so I figured I'd say hi to my
old friends and welcome my new ones to my e-world! * Hey newbies - check out
the bottom bottom bottom of this message... if you have a spare moment or two,
you can request and vote for us and stuff - isn't that exciting! ;) The rest
of you are off the hook! Thanks...
This babbling has been brought to you by - a sleep deprived human!!!
Lorraine ☺
